Annually in April, the Alumni Association hosts a Scholarship Fundraiser Event to support our scholarship program mission to help generate financial assistance for education purposes.  Typically during this time, alumni members are charged with the responsibility of selling tickets or making a donation to this event to benefit the overall success and net proceeds available for giving.

The Washington, D. C. Metropolitan Area Chapter of the Alcorn State University Alumni Association is proud to offer a scholarship in honor of the late Mrs. Sadie Pettigrew Gadberry, Alcorn State University Class of 1916.  Mrs. Gadberry was a long-time resident of Washington as well as a great supporter of our local alumni chapter.  If you meet the criteria and wish to be considered for this award, please submit an application along with the required documents (see page 2 of the application form) to Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Mrs. Gradalee Stewart.

 

I.                      Student Criteria

 

To be eligible for the Gadberry Scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

 

1.  Be a resident of the Washington, D. C. metropolitan area.

 

2.  Have been accepted for enrollment as a student at Alcorn State University or be a student   currently enrolled at Alcorn State University.

 

3.  Have a grade point average of 2.0 or better.

 

4.  Have completed and submitted an application, with the required documents.

 

5.  All applications must be received by June 30, for consideration for the fall semester.

 

II.                    Scholarship Amount

 

                        Scholarship amounts vary from year to year based on available funds.  A check for the award will be forwarded to the recipient(s) at Alcorn State University.
